One of my favourite ideas for stories is to use a picture to help get the story moving. I start asking questions about the picture, and, as soon as I start writing down the answers, the story has begun. Can you think of 5 questions to ask about this picture and use the answers to continue the story below?

First Skype Visit Oakridge Intl School India

FIRST SKYPE AUTHOR SCHOOL VISIT - OAKRIDGE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL: NEWTON CAMPUS - INDIA

This is exciting news. I've got the first SKYPE Author School Visit arranged for Thursday 28th March 2013.
I'll be talking to the children of Oakridge International School, Hyderabad, India, and showing them some slides with the characters and scenes from my Kernowland in Erthwurld series.
I'll also be telling them about the work of an author and answering questions.
It has to be at 8.00 a.m. here because of the time difference. It will be 1.30 p.m. at their school in India.
There have been a lot of schools asking for visits but I'm finding it hard to get to all the schools as well as writing the new Thirteen Things series of books. SKYPE visits seem to be a good solution, especially for international schools outside the UK.
These video-link SKYPE visits can be for schools in the UK or anywhere else in the world. I have already physically visited over 1,000 schools in the UK but, using this technology, many more schools can have an author visit.

Elm Green Prep Mutant Creatures 07

One of the 'themes' of the Kernowland in Erthwurld stories is mutant creatures. Lots of children like to draw their own mutant creatures and send them to me for putting on the Blog. Hussain's main creature seems to have 'wings' similar to fish such as skate or ray. It also appears to have webbed feet. I wonder WHERE it lives? Hussain has also drawn some other pictures of mutants and some 'things' or 'objects' from the Kernowland stories. He has also written me a lovely letter. Thanks Hussain.

Elm Green Prep Mutant Creatures 06

One of the 'themes' of the Kernowland in Erthwurld stories is mutant creatures. Lots of children like to draw their own mutant creatures and send them to me for putting on the Blog. Fergus's main creature has big eyes and a big nose. The creature is holding something which is very bright orange! I wonder what it is? Fergus has also drawn some other pictures of mutants, some of which have got more than one head!. He has also written me a lovely letter. Thanks Fergus.

One of the 'themes' of the Kernowland in Erthwurld stories is mutant creatures. Lots of children like to draw their own mutant creatures and send them to me for putting on the Blog. Nicole's creatures are sand-coloured so perhaps they live on the beach? Have they got four eyes? They seem to be feeling happy as they're smiling. I like their curly antennas, which some people call 'feelers'. So they feel happy and they can feel things with their feelers. That's confusing unless you know that 'to feel' has two meanings! Nicole has also drawn some other pictures of mutants and written me a lovely letter. Thanks Nicole.

One of the 'themes' of the Kernowland in Erthwurld stories is mutant creatures. Lots of children like to draw their own mutant creatures and send them to me for putting on the Blog. Charlie's creature has red spikes all over it! Is that a great big red mouth at the front or a great big red eye? I wonder which way it moves, forwards or sideways like a crab? Charlie has also drawn some other pictures of mutants and written me a lovely letter. Thanks Charlie.
