Kernowland 5 Slavechildren by Jack Trelawny published today

ISBN 9780954633899   Hardcover   160 pages

Kernowland 5 Slavechildren published today
The fifth book in the Kernowland in Erthwurld Series, Slavechildren, was published today, 30 May 2009.

Louis in big trouble...
With a reward of five thousand evos on his head, Louis was snatched by Captain Pigleg in Jungleland at the end of Book 4.
Here in Book 5, he’ll be taken back to face the grizzly Guillotine of Sirap.
Tizzie was caught in the armtentacles of a giant tree octopus, and the mutant monster was about to eat her with its sharp beak.
Meanwhile, back in conquered Kernowland – which has been renamed ‘Wonrekland’ – Drym has a new ‘pet’, a fearsome wolfspider called Danglefang, and parents everywhere are agonising over Lister’s Choice… which one of their precious children will they deliver into slavery?

Author visit to ESJ
Key Stage 2 and Year 2 were fortunate to be visited by the author Jack Trelawny. He spoke to the children about his work as a writer and how he found the ideas for his Kernowland adventure books. These books are set in Cornwall where Jack grew up (Kernow is the Cornish word for Cornwall) and the 2 children featured in the stories are his own. After talking to the children, Jack signed a big pile of books purchased by the children

'Having it just before the Y6 tests worked well'
I gave a talk and slideshow to the children in KS2 about creative writing and read some of my Kernowland in Erthwurld story. Year 6 were just about to do their SATS exams.
Literacy Coordinator, Lara Jane Fuller, kindly wrote to Campion Books with a review of the visit. This helps other schools to know what happens so they can decide if they would like a FREE Jack Trelawny author visit to their school...

Dear Jane,
Thank you for this visit.  We really enjoyed it.  Having it just before the Y6 tests worked well as well.  We were very impressed with Jack and his presentation.  I know that the children gained a great deal from it.  They were all delighted to actually meet & speak to an author.  Everywhere I look around the school, there seems to be someone reading the books.  I know at least 3 of the classes are reading The Crystal Pool as their class reader. Please keep me informed of any other upcoming events and author visits.
Kind Regards, Lara-Jane Fuller.
