New Woollcott Learning Centre for Chapel End Junior School
PUPILS and staff have celebrated the opening of a new school building.
The Woollcott Learning Centre will provide extra classroom space and facilities for youngsters at Chapel End Junior School in Roberts Road, Walthamstow.
It was officially opened today by children's author Jack Trelawny and Peter Woollcott, who the building has been named after in recognition of his work as a governor at the school for more than two decades.
The £300,000 structure, paid for from school funds, includes a large classroom space, toilets and a kitchen.
Lisa Joy, the school's librarian, said: "The opening went really well and lots of pupils and staff have been enjoying a little party to celebrate.
"It's a lovely building. We've already started to have some music, drama and philosophy lessons there, and our cookery club."
