On 4 March 2011, I visited Hawley Primary School in Camberley, Surrey, and gave a slideshow presentation and talk followed by a 'Meet the Author' booksigning event.

Afterwards, the children kindly sent me some letters and artwork based on my books and the presentation. This helps other schools to know what happens so they can decide if they would like a FREE Jack Trelawny author visit to their school. Below is a letter from Freya Short.

I like the pictures Freya has drawn of the giant crabs from Book 1 of the Kernowland in Erthwurld story. They look really scary.

On 17 February 2011, I visited Barling Magna Primary School in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, and gave a slideshow presentation and talk followed by a 'Meet the Author' booksigning event.

Afterwards, a parent, Laura Cheek, kindly sent me a letter outlining how the visit had sparked an interest in reading in her 8-year-old son, Evan. Feedback like this gives other parents and schools an idea of how the school visits can inspire children and helps them to decide if they would like a FREE Jack Trelawny author visit to their school.

Evan, 8, sent me the letter below after he had finished the last book in the Kernowland in Erthwurld series, Kernowland 6 Colosseum of Dread (see below).

Thank you very much, Laura and Evan, for your kind letters.

Wix and Wrabness Primary School CO11 2RS

YOUNGSTERS in Wix stepped into their very own adventure world this week.
Children at Wix and Wrabness Primary activated their imaginations to write their own stories as part of the school’s book week. On Wednesday author, Jack Trelawny, spoke to the pupils about how he was inspired to write. Catherine Graham, literacy leader at the school, said:
“It has been book week this week and as part of that an author came to the school.
“He told the children what inspired him and how he gets his ideas, which is why we chose him to come in.
“We wanted the children to think what would inspire them to write.
“The children were really excited and they asked him lots questions.
“Some of them have already started planning their own stories.”

'There was a real buzz around the school!'
I gave a talk and slideshow to the children in KS2 about using imagination for creative writing and my Kernowland in Erthwurld series.

In the school newsletter, Headteacher, Emma Fenn, reviewed the visit: 'Jack Trelawny... inspired the whole school to produce imaginative and creative writing. There was a real buzz around the school! Our thanks go to Mrs Tumber for all her hard work in promoting reading throughout the school and for organising such an enriched week.'

Sprowston Junior School NR7 8EW

'A very enjoyable assembly'
All the children really enjoyed Jack's visit to our school. He led a very enjoyable assembly about how he creates exciting characters and ideas for stories.
Jack stayed with us for a little while longer to speak to the children and to sign copies of books from his Kernowland series.
