Please also pass on my thanks also to Rachel for sending me her story. As you say in your letter, it may give me, or perhaps other writers, some ideas. We must not copy it of course, as it's Rachel's story, but I read other people's stories all the time to give me ideas for my own stories. I mix up all the ideas I read about and then put them together to make something new, which is all mine for my story. I think Rachel may have used some ideas from other stories she has read as well.

What a great story, Rachel. I like it for lots of reasons. For a start, you have used all the 'W' words we talked about in the school assembly: WHO is in the story, WHERE is the story happening, WHEN is it happening, and WHAT actually happens in the right order. It has a main hero character, Rohith, whom I care about. There are villains causing problems and trouble for the hero. There is some exciting action with challenges and problems to be solved. There are cliff-hangers at the end of pages or chapters to make me want to turn the page and read more. There are some pictures to quickly show me what might be in the story. And the hero I care about is happy at the end, which makes me feel good inside and means I would want to read the story again and tell my friends about it. Splendid.

Bromsgrove Preparatory School B61 7DU

Children's Author visits Prep School
Today, Bromsgrove pupils in Years 3, 4 and 5 were lucky enough to have a visit from prominent children’s writer, Jack Trelawny.
   Jack has written six books for pupils in Yr 3 upwards about Kernowland, which we know as modern day Cornwall. The stories feature the adventures of his niece, Tizzie and her brother Louis.
   Bromsgrove pupils were very interested in the slideshow of weird and wonderful creatures they were shown, as well as hearing Jack perform Chapter 1 of The Crystal Pool. He encouraged the children to think of their own imaginary creatures which could lead to some very creative writing.
   Many pupils had the chance to meet Jack and to buy signed copies of his books. The morning was a great success and the children were inspired to read and write their own stories.

The Viking Prep School PE25 2QJ - Headteacher Review

'The children... loved the presentation'
I visited The Viking Prep School in Skegness, Lincolnshire, on 19th March 2010, and gave a slideshow presentation and talk followed by a 'Meet the Author' booksigning event.

After the visit, the Headmistress, Laura Middlebrook, wrote to Campion Books with a brief review of the visit. This helps other schools to know what happens so they can decide if they would like a FREE Jack Trelawny author visit to their school....



Just a quick e-mail to say how much the children at school loved the presentation given by Jack on Friday (19th March).
The comments received from children and staff said how enthusiastic the entire visit was.
The children were really pleased with their copies of the book that had been signed for them and they went out of school with pride and readiness to read the book - some having already begun it at playtime and in the lesson.

Martlesham Beacon Hill Primary School

'You have inspired me to write stories...'
On 16th March 2010, I visited Martlesham Beacon Hill Primary School in Woodbridge, Suffolk, and gave a slideshow presentation and talk followed by a 'Meet the Author' booksigning event.
Afterwards, the children kindly sent lots of 'thank you' letters with the pictures they had drawn. The letters are below (click to enlarge). It's great when children send their stories, letters, and artwork because this helps other schools to know what happens so they can decide if they would like a FREE Jack Trelawny author visit to their school.
I'd like to say a big 'THANK YOU' to all the children who sent their letters and artwork and to the teachers for organising it.

West Horndon Primary School CM13 3TR - Review

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Jack for his visit to our school on Monday.
The children were very inspired and are glued to his books.
It was a fascinating workshop and many of our students have said the visit was the highlight of the many activities we have done to celebrate World Book Day and West Horndon Book Week.

New Hall Preparatory School CM3 3HS

AUTHOR JACK TRELAWNY VISITS THE PREPARATORY SCHOOL
Pupils at the Preparatory School enjoyed a talk today from popular children's fiction writer Jack Trelawny. The pupils had the chance to ask Jack some excellent questions about being an author and afterwards have their 'Kernowland Trilogies’ and ‘Erthwurld’ books signed.
