He is a children's fiction writer who has written a series of six books in the Kernowland series set in an imaginary Cornwall. He talked to the children about his writing and signed copies of his books. Teacher Jeremy Northcott said: "There's nothing like adventure to get children reading. The children loved Jack Trelawny and his Cornish tales."

Meet the Author - book signing after the talk
Visit by author inspires children
THEY HAD read the books and on Monday Helston schoolchildren had the chance to meet the man who wrote them. Jack Trelawny, author of the Kernowland series, was welcomed to Nansloe CP School on Monday afternoon. Head of key stage two Derrick Frantz said:

"The children were excited about the visit as they had been feverishly reading the Kernowland books, which were freely available from the school library, in anticipation of the visit.

"It was evident that the children were inspired by Mr Trelawny who gave a talk about how he creates stories from looking at pictures and listening out for ideas from a variety of sources."
This was exemplified by Year 5 pupil Nicholas who said: "I want to write loads of stories now."
Each child who had ordered a copy of one of the books was able to have it signed and dedicated by the author.
Mr Trelawny was very complimentary about his visit saying he felt "very welcome at Nansloe".
Mr Frantz also gave a very special thank you to Heather Foster, the school librarian, for arranging it all.

Jack Trelawny with Captain Bombadinga and other pirates!
Children's author visits school and inspires pupils' own stories
CHILDREN'S author Jack Trelawny – creator of the Kernowland series – visited Treleigh Primary School to talk about his work.

Children, teachers and support staff dressed as pirates and pirate mascot Captain Bombadinga popped in to see what all the fuss was about. Mr Trelawny talked about his connections to Cornwall and his inspiration for his stories.
The children were enthralled and excited at his ideas and listened intently as he read the first chapters of his book The Crystal Pool, which featured a small girl and boy and their adventures in Kernowland.
Opportunity
The children were given the opportunity to buy signed copies of his books.
Year 5 children are looking forward to reading it as their literacy topic book next half-term and excerpts from their own stories will be sent to Mr Trelawny for him to read.
Head teacher Helen Collinge said: "We were thrilled to receive this visit from Jack and to find out more about his series of books. The children were inspired by his talk and are now bursting with ideas for their own stories."
